Dusky Pionus

I remember the first time I saw a Dusky in Bird Talk Magazine. That was about 20yrs ago. I knew one day I'd get my hands on one, at least, I hoped.

Well that day has come. My wonderful husband bought me one for our 8th wedding anniversary. A true meaning of his love towards me. A life long dream, has come true.

After seeing the beauty that the Dusky Pi holds, I wondered about what to call her. I like different names for my birds but really like names that fall under "fruit, food or gems stones". Upon closer inspection of the colors that a Dusky holds, I knew "Jewel" was her name...a real gem!

She's more beautiful that any picture can ever truly show. To see the irredesent colors in the sun is as beautiful as a rainbow after a sun shower.

And her smell...I just love it. Let's talk about that. Some say that you either love it or hate it. I love it. I had a BFA many yrs ago & he smelt the same exact way as Jewel...I have to admit "my name is Tracy & I'm a bird sniffer.....

Here are a few picture of my Jewel. I wonder what I will get for my 10th wedding anniversary? Maybe a Bronze Wing?

Some random pictures of my Poi

Here are a few recent pics of Kiwi, Cherry & Citrine.
This is Kiwi in the picture above. He's my little stinker & a mama's boy.

This is Cherry up in the front. She's very shy but she does like other birds. She's a work in progress for sure. However, today she went to take a peanut from my hand & I dropped it, great timing. lol So that scared her. I hope this means more in the future.

Citrine - Meyers

Hello, it's been a while again. I think life just gets in the way. Let's see, where was I?? lol Oh I did get my female Meyers Citrine & have had her more then a month now. Maybe it's been longer, I'm loosing my ability to remember time frame. :P

Citrine is as sweet as pie, just like our Pumpkin is. Very much wants to be with people...a big suckie. I also have been handfeeding her since she arrived here...she takes it once a day now. I don't mind, she loves it & well, so do we.
